Maxine Roemer (Hall) - Class Of 1943

Maxine Dorcas Hall, a native of Kenosha, WI, died peacefully in the early morning hours of July 22, 2025, at the age of 99. She had lived in Hendersonville, North Carolina for the last 39 years, most recently as a resident at Carolina Village.

Mrs. Hall was the daughter of the late Max Roemer and Dorcas Lindstedt Roemer. In addition to her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Arlin Wesley Hall; her brother, Walter Roemer; and two of her children, Andrew Arlin Hall, and Diane Hall Bartlett. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Hall Gabianelli (Eugene) of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Karen A. Belanger of Charleston, SC; and son, Bradley S. Hall (Laura) of St. Augustine, FL; and seven grandchildren.

Maxine was a 1946 graduate of Michael Reese Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, IL. She continued her studies at the University of Colorado in Boulder, where she met Arlin Hall, and they were married in 1949.

Maxine was a busy mother raising five children and supporting the career of her husband, moving the family ten times. She was known for her social and gracious nature, joining new communities easily. She was a lifelong learner and eager volunteer. In Hendersonville, Maxine volunteered at the Red Cross, the Free Clinics, the Rescue Mission, the AIDS Coalition, the Flat Rock Playhouse, and the Historic Johnson Farm. Throughout her life she enjoyed gardening, family camping trips, playing bridge, and golfing which she continued late in her life. She especially enjoyed adventurous travel visiting Europe, Africa, Asia and many Elderhostels in the United States.

Maxine will be remembered for her sense of humor, beauty, and grace. In accordance with her wishes, Maxine was cremated and the family gathered for a private graveside memorial. Shuler Funeral Home has the honor of serving the family.
