IN MEMORY

Frank Fabiano, Jr. - Class Of 1977

Frank A. Fabiano, Jr., a Sheriff's Deputy for the Kenosha County Wisconsin Sheriff's Department, died on May 17, 2007 at the age of 48, after being shot in the line of duty while conducting a traffic stop.

Frank was born August 8, 1958, the son of Frank and Donna (Zahn) Fabiano.  He grew up in Kenosha and was a 1977 graduate of Kenosha Bradford High School.  He then graduated from the Law Enforcement Academy of the Fox Valley Institute.  He served in the Marine Corps as a Lance Corporal with the Military Police from December 27, 1982 until his Honorable Discharge on November 25, 1986.

Frank married the love of his life, Amy Theresa Buchman, on September 12, 1992 in Kenosha.  He was a loving husband and impeccable father to his daughter, Angelina.

Frank began working for the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department on November 25, 1989 and worked the third shift for 18 years. He liked working this shift as it gave him time for another passion in his life, golf.   On May 14, 1991, he rescued a young girl from a burning building and was awarded the Department Silver Star for Meritorious Service.  On August 12, 1991, he responded to a Domestic Disturbance and upon arrival, the suspect opened fire on Frank with a high-powered rifle.  Order was secured, the suspect was apprehended and Deputy Fabiano was treated for shrapnel wounds sustained from the incident.  He was awarded the Department Purple Heart.

Frank was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Kenosha County Deputy Sheriff's Association where he served every year with the "Shop with a Cop Program," worked as a Field Training Officer with the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department and served on the Hostage Negotiating Team.  He was looking forward to turning 50 so he could golf in the City and County Open as well as the City and County Senior Open.

On Wednesday, May 23, 2007, Frank Fabiano was laid to rest in his hometown following a memorial service at Carthage College's Siebert Chapel; interment followed in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
