Martha Horn - Class Of 1944

Martha Horn passed away on October 13, 2022.  She was born September 10, 1925, in Freudenberg Westfalen, Germany to parents Rudolf and Emmi Horn.

She emigrated from Germany with her family to the United States in 1930 and settled in Kenosha, WI.  Martha was educated in Kenosha public schools and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School in 1944.  She went on to graduat from Baldwin Wallace University with a degree in U.S. History, as well as World History.  She earned a Masters in Guidance and Counseling from Marshall University in Huntington, WV.

From a very young age, Martha always wanted to be a teacher, which was indeed her career for 42 years, retiring in 1992.  In addition to teaching history, she was a guidance counselor for 15 years.

She is predeceased by her sister, Anneliese (Donald E.) Long, Chagrin Falls, OH.  She is survived by two sisters, Louise (Adelbert) Gorham, Burnsville, MN, and Judith (Robert) Freas, Brentwood, TN, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

As a member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church, she was in the choir and later became the church pianist.  Her musical interests also included classical music, singing and ballroom dancing.  Wherever Martha lived, she always found time and took great satisfaction in volunteering in hospitals.

Family and friends will gather at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park in Kenosha, WI on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 10:30AM for a memorial and dedication.
