Robert Bosman - Class Of 1957

Robert G. Bosman, 70 (pictured at right from the 1957 Spy), of Woodstock, died Thursday, May 13, 2010, at Centegra Hospital – Woodstock.  He was born May 29, 1939, in Kenosha, WI, to Robert L. and Frances (Haymes) Bosman.  He married Janice Hasselman on March 25, 1961, in Footville, WI.

He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the UW-Whitewater in 1962. He received his Master of Arts degree from Winona State University in 1965 and earned a Ph.D. in education from Northern Illinois University in 1979. 

He began his career in education in Walworth, WI.  He and his family then moved to Woodstock, where he held principalships at Clay and Dean elementary schools.  After retiring from District 200, he supervised student teachers for Northern Illinois University for 10 years.

During the early years of his life, he was an athlete, excelling in tennis, and he loved to swim, play football and golf.  In more recent years, he focused on his family, his wife, his children, his grandchildren and his cottage near Rhinelander, WI.  He also enjoyed painting and drawing.

He is survived by his wife, Janice; his daughter, Robin (Charley) Grover; his son, Joel (Julia) Bosman; four grandchildren, Trey Grover, Veronica Grover, Joe Grover and Bruno Bosman; three nephews, Marc Killingstad, Michael and Ryan Shackelford; and his niece, Natalie Killingstad.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Patricia Shackelford. 

The visitation will be from 3:00PM to 7:00PM on Monday, May 17, 2010 with a memorial service at 7:00PM at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin and Cooney Funeral Home (1211 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock).
