Leona Tucholl (Wellman) - Class Of 1935

Leona Emily Wellman, 92, of Kenosha, WI passed away Friday, May 29, 2009, at her residence.  Born in Kenosha on April 3, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Anna (Stolp) Tucholl.

On June 18, 1938, at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church, she was united in marriage to Clarence Wellman.  He preceded her in death on July 12, 1968.

Leona was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.  She was a member of the Friendly Center at St. Mary's Lutheran Church, the Home & Community (HCE), and the Ladies Club at Bethany Lutheran Church, the Kenosha Genealogy (KCGS), Altar Guild and the Kenosha Art Association.

Leona loved all things artistic:  drawing, painting, crafting and gardening.  She was very active in her church, taking leadership in organizations she participated in.  Leona was always on the go and, while she was still driving, she enjoyed providing transportation to others.

Survivors include her children, Dale (Linda) Wellman of Pleasant Prairie and Carol (Les) Gillmore of Kenosha; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason) Burt, Heather Wellman and Matthew Wellman.  Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at 11:00AM at Bethany Lutheran Church (2100 - 75th Street).  Interment will follow in Green Ridge Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the church from 9:30AM until the time of the service.
