Mr. Lorn Matelski (Teacher & Principal)

Lorn W. Matelski:  December 21, 1923 – January 2, 2008

He was the son of Peter and Anna Matelski. Lorn was a decorated pilot, serving in the Air Force during World War II.  He then served in the Reserves and retired as a Lt. Colonel.  He then served as a liaison officer for the United States Air Force Academy for the State of Wisconsin.

Lorn married Duste Parnow in LaCrosse on June 12, 1948.  He was a teacher and principal for 36 years for Kenosha Unified School District and later worked for the East Troy School System.  He also began the Southern Lakes Teachers Credit Union and started an insurance company that insured credit unions in Wisconsin.

Lorn was a 30-year member of the East Troy and Elkhorn Kiwanis clubs.  He also was very active in many civic, community and church organizations.  Lorn served as a bailiff for Walworth County for 20 years following his retirement.

Survivors include his wife; 5 children; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; a brother; and a sister. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Harry and Roy Matelski; and his parents.
