Dorothy Shackmuth (Congdon) - Class Of 1943

Dorothy S. Congdon, 87, of Dousman, Wis., passed away peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at the Masonic Center for Health & Rehab, Dousman, Wis.

Dorothy was in Kenosha on born July 28, 1925, the daughter of the late Arthur and Ethel (Greenquist) Schackmuth.

She attended local schools graduating from Kenosha High School. In her younger years, she was a secretary at Nash-Kelvinator of Kenosha.

Dorothy married Oral Congdon, Jr., on Sept. 29, 1945 in Wilmette, Ill. They were blessed with four loving daughters and 67 years of marriage.

A lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church, Dorothy was an active member of the churchs Womens Association and a Sunday School Teacher. She was a member of the Eastern Star # 92, on the PTA and a Girl Scout leader. Gardening, playing bridge and traveling the world with her husband and family were what Dorothy loved to do. She was a loving wife and mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be forever missed but not forgotten.

She is survived by her loving husband, Oral; daughters, Susan (Jack) Raaths, Marsha (Tom) Ohlgart, Sally (David) Christiansen and Debra (James) Ellsworth; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Glen Schackmuth and sister-in-law, Marilyn (Edward) Schiller.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Calvin, James, Don and Eugene and a sister, Joan Plaisted.

Funeral Services for Dorothy were held on November 3, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church in Kenosha, followed by interment in Green Ridge Cemetery.
