Edmund Pobar - Class Of 1931

Edmund J. Pobar, 91, formerly of Kenosha, late of Racine, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2006, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Racine.

Born April 30, 1914, in Chicago, he was the son of the late John and Tillie (Sheris) Pobar.  He was educated in the schools of Kenosha.  

On September 14, 1940, at St. James Catholic Church in Kenosha, he married Janet M. Regner.
He was employed as assistant chief engineer by Nash Motors, American Motors and Chrysler Corp. During World War II, he worked on the East Coast to build aircraft engines.  In 1974 he and his wife moved to Yuma, AZ and managed the S.W. Test Center until his retirement in 1984, when moved to Racine, WI.

He was president of the Kenosha Bowman, was an avid competitive sailor and was a former member of the Elk's Club in Kenosha and Yuma, AZ.

Surviving are his wife, Janet of Racine; a son, Michael (Janet) Pobar, of Racine; two daughters:  Janice (Jim) Sorensen of San Juan Capistrano, CA, and Mary (Steve) Finnigan of Windham, ME; a sister, Millie Oster; and six grandchildren:   James T. and Matthew Sorensen, Carrie and Stephen Finnigan, and Michelle and Colin Pobar.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 10, at 12:00PM at Proko Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.  Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00AM until the time of services at Proko Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Girl Scouts of Racine (6240 Bankers Road, Racine, WI 53403), would be appreciated by the family.
