Gerald Lee Gannaway, age 81 (pictured at right from the 1953 Spy) of Marion, OH passed away Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Marion General Hospital.  He was born January 8, 1935 in Gary, IN to the late George and Cecilia (Getschman) Gannaway.  He moved to Kenosha in 1940 and attended local schools.

Gerald proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1956-1960, including a stint on board the USS Newport News. He was employed at Fairfield Engineering as an engineer and at Dryers. Gerald was a member of the Elks Lodge, Moose and the American Legion.

He is survived by his daughters:  Barbara (Brian) Pargeon and Diane (Rev. Chris) Frye, both of Newark, OH; four grandchildren:  Kimberly (Jared) Heck, Kellie (Jeff) Bush, Matthew Cordle and Ethan Frye.  He is also survived by a sister, Janet Higgens.
