Paula Munson (Carlin) - Class Of 1962

Paula Carlin, 79, of Kenosha passed away on September 29, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

Paula was born on April 10, 1944, in Kenosha, the daughter of the late Chester and Ina (Hinds) Munson.  She was educated in the schools of Kenosha, graduating from Bradford High School in 1962.  Paula married Gary Doerflinger on April 25, 1964, in Kenosha then later divorced.  On July 2, 1983, she married Roger Carlin.  Paula worked for MacWhyte Company for 37 years, first as a stenographer and later, assistant buyer, retiring in 1999.

After retirement Paula and Roger moved to Adams, WI and built their dream log home on 30 wooded acres where they enjoyed many wonderful years together. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Her hobbies included shopping for deals and antiques, going to casinos, and cheering for the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears.

Paula was a generous and outgoing person who liked to joke with people and watch politics, but most of all she loved spending time with friends and family, especially with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughters, Heide (David) Maginn and Suanne (John) Funk, both of Kenosha; step-children Joe (Elizabeth) Carlin of AZ and Debbie Carlin and Diane Smick, both of Kenosha; brother, John Munson of Kenosha; sister, Elizabeth Jamieson of CA; sister-in-law, Maxine Shields of Blue River, WI; grandchildren:  Kim (Andrew) Loesl, Laura (Mike) Hrycyniak, Tom Johnson, Dan (Jessica) Funk, Kristen (Josh) Bacher, Michael Smick and Samantha Funk; and great-granddaughter, Ada Jane.  Paula is also survived by long-time friends, Kris Czarnecki and Susan Macareno, and personal assistant, Dina Flannery.

Paula was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roger; son, Gary John Doerflinger; siblings, Fred Hinds and April Saldana; and her former husband.

A memorial gathering will be held at First United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 4, from 9:00AM to 11:00AM with memorial services to follow immediately at 11:00AM.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be greatly appreciated.
