Caroline Smith - Class Of 1944

Caroline E. Smith, age 85 of Kenosha, died on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Clare Bridge of Kenosha.

Born on December 15, 1925, she was the daughter of the late P. Harold and Isabelle (Sherman) Smith. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School.

For many years, Caroline was employed as a secretary with Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. in Kenosha.

A member of St. Mary's Lutheran Church, she was active with the Monday Quilting Club and Helping Hands. Through the R.S.V.P (Retired Senior Volunteer Program), Caroline was a frequent volunteer at Tremper High School. She especially enjoyed playing the piano, yard work and spending time in her flower garden.

Surviving Caroline are her brothers, Sherman Smith of Chula Vista, CA and Ward Smith of Hermosa Beach, CA; her niece, Sharon (Kenneth) Lockman of Chula Vista and nephews, Dennis (Linda) Smith of Lemon Grove, CA and Kenneth Smith of Chula Vista; two great-nieces; one great-nephew, and her guardian, Nancy Lesniak of Pleasant Prairie.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 24, 2011 at 2:00PM at St. Mary's Lutheran Church (2001 80th St., Kenosha). Private interment will take place in Green Ridge Cemetery.

A visitation for Caroline will take place on Friday, January 21, 2011 from 4:00PM to 6:00PM at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home (3720 39th Avenue, Kenosha). In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to Hospice Alliance, Inc., 10220 Prairie Ridge Blvd., Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158 would be appreciated.
