Kathryn Wlahovich (Krebs) - Class Of 1938

Kathryn Krebs, 93, of Kenosha, died at her residence at Casa Del Mar on Friday, July 12, 2014.

Born on January 6, 1921, in Kenosha, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Barbara (Kovacic) Wlahovich.  She was a graduate of Kenosha High School.

On November 8, 1941, she was united in marriage to Edward Krebs.  After 42 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on September 29, 1984.

Kathryn began her career as an administrative assistant at Hubbard’s Auto Body.  Next, she owned and operated Sheridan Lanes.  After the sale of Sheridan Lanes, Kathryn was employed for many years as a secretary by the Kenosha public schools.  She worked in the administrative office and then McKinley Elementary School, ending her career at Bose Elementary School.

She was a member of Kenosha Women of the Moose Chapter #155.  She was a proud longtime member of St. Catherine’s Hospital Auxiliary and will be remembered working in their gift shop.  Kathryn also volunteered at Aurora Hospital.

Kathryn started working as a volunteer in the Hospital Administrative Office with Chris Olson at Aurora Medical Center Kenosha in June of 1999.  In December 1999, she also helped to initiate the Love Lights program at Aurora. Kathryn took great pride in her volunteer work; she referred to the administration girls as her family, and they felt the same about Kathryn.  Kathryn was a great help to the Administration team, working to keep the office organized and running smoothly.  She always brought a smile to those who worked with her!  Kathryn retired from volunteering in April of 2006 and was an honorary volunteer member until April of 2013.

Kathryn enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas to try her luck on her favorite nickel slot machines.  She also enjoyed reading and ice cream.  Above all, she loved and adored her family.

Kathryn is survived by:  her four children, Terry Iaquinta, Gordon (Lynne) Krebs, Michael (Nancy) Krebs, and Joan (Mark) Bender; her nine grandchildren; and her six great-grandchildren.
