Doris Mary Jane Klemp, 94 (pictured at right from the 1934 Spy), formerly of Caledonia, MN, passed away Sunday, November 21, 2010, at the Golden Living Center, La Crescent, MN. She was born August 29, 1916, in Kenosha, WI, the daughter of Jay and Mary Kraai.
On February 23, 1952, Doris married Lawrence Klemp at Frieden's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenosha. They resided in Kenosha until 1967, when they moved to Caledonia, MN. Doris was primarily a homemaker, but assisted her husband in the management of his business, KLM Stainless Steel Fabricating in Caledonia as well as working at the Caledonia Hospital. She was very active at her church, St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Caledonia, and was especially proud of being named Houston County Senior Citizen of the Year in 1999.
Survivors include one daughter, Beverly (Billy) Davis of Winthrop Harbor, Ill.; two sons, Elmer (Sandy) Duveneck of Kenosha, and Leonard (Sue) Klemp of La Crescent, MN; seven grandchildren Joe Davis, Carla (Kevin) Weide, Toby (Brittney) Duveneck, Michael Duveneck, Carl Klemp, Kirsten Klemp and Jordan Klemp; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Eleanor Richards.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, in 1996, and one sister, Marion.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church (650 N. Kingston St., Caledonia) beginning at 10:00AM and concluding with a short prayer service at 11:00AM.
Interment will be Saturday, November 27, 2010, at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery in Kenosha, WI, with a brief service at 10:45AM in the cemetery chapel. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the organization of your choice would be appropriate.
