Frank Vitkus - Class Of 1932

Frank J. “Lefty” Vitkus, 95, of Kenosha, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2009 at Brookside Care Center.  Born on June 5, 1914 in Kenosha, WI, he was the son of the late John and Anna (Blazis) Vitkus.  Frank attended St. Peter Catholic Church and graduated from Kenosha High School.

On November 4, 1944, he married Jane M. Bixby at St. Peter Catholic Church in Kenosha.  Jane preceded him in death on April 27, 1997.

Frank was employed by the Simmons Company both in Kenosha, WI and Munster, IN for and Glotzbach for 7 years before returning to Kenosha in 1985.  Frank was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.  He enjoyed bowling and golf.  He was an original member of the Phantom Athletic Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Lynne Vitkus, of Crown Point, IN; a son, Wayne (Nicole) Vitkus, of Centennial, CO; a grandson, Ryan Vitkus, of McLean, VA; a granddaughter, Alison (Joel) Carlman, of Stellenbosch, South Africa; a brother, Anthony Vitkus, and a sister, Dorothy Wertz.

Along with his wife and parents, Frank was preceded in death by his sister, Ann Ladousa and his brother, Joseph Vitkus.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 24 at 10:00AM at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.  A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 24 from 9:00AM until the time of the service.  Interment will be in St. George Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to St. Elizabeth Catholic Church would be appreciated by the family.
