Mr. Mervin Bianchetti (History)

Mervin D. Bianchetti, 83, of Kenosha, WI, formerly of Iron Mountain, MI, died Thursday, June 7, 2018, at Kenosha Memorial Hospital.

He was born on January 5, 1935, in Iron Mountain, MI, son of the late John and Palmira (Oradei) Bianchetti.  Mervin graduated from Iron Mountain High School class of 1953, where he excelled in football.  He moved to Kenosha where he worked as a butcher for a short period of time before serving our country in the U.S. Army.  Upon his honorable discharge from the service, he went on to attend Northern Michigan University, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in secondary education.  Mervin taught history and government at Bradford High School in Kenosha for over 30 years before retiring. He was known by his students as “Mr. B”.  Mervin enjoyed traveling, football and horse racing.

He is survived by his brother, John (Donna) Bianchetti, Munising, MI; his sister, Lorraine Hicks, Iron Mountain, MI; three nephews:  Michael (Debrah) Bianchetti, Gary Bianchetti, Stephen (Shelly) Hicks; three nieces:  Pamela (David) Johnson, Julie (Jeff) Buchmun and Katherine Bianchetti-White; and many cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Anita Bianchetti-Andreini and two brothers-in-law, William "Red" Hicks and August Andreini.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 13, from 9:00AM until 10:30AM, at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain, Mich.  Prayers will be recited Wednesday at 10:30AM at the funeral home.  The Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, 11:00AM at St. Mary and St. Joseph Catholic Church, Iron Mountain, MI, with   Rev. Fr. Ray Valerio officiating, followed by burial in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain, MI.  The Uren Cooper Johnson American Legion Post #50, Iron Mountain, will accord military honors at graveside.

The family would like to especially thank Mervin's neighbor, Christine Schmelling, and her family for their care and concern over the years.
