IN MEMORY

Rose Springer (Moskopf) - Class Of 1932

Joyce “Rose” Moskopf, 95, beloved wife of the late George Moskopf, passed away peacefully at Harmony of Kenosha on January 22, 2010.  Rose was born in Kenosha to the late Wilhelm and Matilda (nee: Goeka) Springer on May 17, 1914.

A lifetime member of the Bradford Alumni Association, she graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School in 1932.  Rose was a lifelong member of Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church, from where she was baptized, confirmed, graduated from grade school, member of the church Friendship Club and the Parent-Teacher Society.

On August 13, 1938 in Friedens Church, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, George Moskopf, by Rev. Carl Buenger.  In her younger years, Rose enjoyed helping her parents with the chores of their family produce farm in Pleasant Prairie.  She had been employed for Mr. David Korf’s clothing store – Sixth Ave. as a seamstress and in their office.  Later, Rose became a telephone operator at the Simmons Co. in Kenosha.  However, her favorite vocation was being a full-time wife and mother, as she was so very devoted to her family.  After George retired from American Motors, they relocated to Zephyrhills, FL where they (and friends) founded Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, a church still up and serving WELS members today.  Rose loved everyone and was a very dedicated caregiver to her sister, Hilda Carlson.  Among her interests, Rose enjoyed gardening, sewing clothes, crocheting, and sharing her fabulous chocolate chip cookies with family and friends.

Rose was the adoring and extremely proud grandmother of Matthew, Michael and Jon (Jennifer) Moskopf.  Also surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Martin G. and Sandra (nee: Naegeli) Moskopf of Kenosha; and many other dear relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George, following 71 loving years of marriage, on September 29, 2009; sisters, Selma Rider, Hilda Carlson and Edith Whitley; and brothers, Adolph, Richard and William Springer.

Funeral services were held in Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kenosha, on January 30, 2010 with Rev. David Rockhoff and Rev. Thomas Meissner officiating, followed by interment in Oakwood Cemetery, Somers.  In memory of Rose, memorials to Friedens Evangelical Lutheran School, Friedens Ladies Aid and Shoreland Lutheran H.S. Scholarship Fund would be appreciated by the family.
