Harold Kreuser - Class Of 1945

Harold F. "Babe" Kreuser, 90, of Kenosha passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

A lifelong resident of Kenosha, Harold was born on July 18, 1926, the son of the late Edwin H. and Minnie (Waldow) Kreuser. He was educated in local schools and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School.

Harold entered the U.S. Army on November 22, 1944, serving in the Philippines and Japan; he was honorably discharged on May 27, 1947. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Occupation of Japan and World War II Victory Medal.

On January 20, 1951, he married La Verne E. Barth at Trinity Lutheran Church in Racine, Wis.

He worked for Canteen Vending Corp. for 31 years and retired from the Chicago Truck Drivers Union on January 1, 1984.

He belonged to Trinity Lutheran Church, Kenosha, and is a "Life Member" of the V.F.W. Post 1865. He was also a member of Masonic Unity Lodge 367 F&AM, where he was Secretary for over 20 years.

Harold is survived by his wife La Verne and three children, Diane Carlson of Kenosha, Linda (Frank) Peterson of Las Vegas, and Jim (Jane) Kreuser of Kenosha; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; and his brother, Ronald W. Kreuser of Alma, Florida.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Edwin; granddaughter, Angela N. Peterson; and his brother, Arnold Kreuser.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church (Unified Fund), 7104 - 39th Avenue, Kenosha, WI 53142, or to The Salvation Army, Kenosha.

Funeral services will be held at Proko Funeral Home on Saturday, October 29, at 11 a.m. Interment with full military honors will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 28 at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. (with a Masonic Service to be held at 7:30 p.m.) and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
