Shirley Hansen (Scoville) - Class Of 1943

Shirley M. (nee: Hansen) Scoville, 94, of Kenosha, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at St. Joseph's Home surrounded by her loving family.

Born December 22, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Cora (Edwards) Hansen.  She attended Woodworth School in Bristol and was a 1943 graduate of Kenosha Bradford High School.

On May 29, 1943, at St. Mary's Lutheran Church she married her high school sweetheart, Ray Scoville.  After 67 happy years of marriage, Ray preceded her in death on October 1, 2010.

Shirley was employed with Jewel-Osco and Piggly Wiggly, retiring in 1982.  She always looked forward to her monthly get-togethers with the girls from Piggly Wiggly.

She was a member of St. Mary's Lutheran Church her entire life and was active in both Martha's Circle and the Friendly Center.  Shirley loved to travel and took many trips with the St. Mary's Friendly Center.  Her favorite destinations were Scandinavia (Denmark), the British Isles and Hawaii. She and her husband Ray liked to play Pinochle in their cardclub with friends.

Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother and aunt.  She received the most enjoyment from her family.  She had two grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson, along with many nieces and nephews.  Shirley and her husband, Ray, loved to babysit and watch their grandchildren and great grandchildren's many sporting events such as; Little League t-ball, baseball, football, basketball and skating.  She especially enjoyed music such as her children's choir and concerts along with her grandchildren's CYT musicals.  Holidays were special times when she was able to be with the entire family at her daughter and son-in-law's home.  Shirley was a great cook.  Her meals and especially her homemade pies were always a treat.

Shirley loved Brett Favre and the Packers.  Most of all, she and her husband Ray were diehard Cubs fans.  She was thrilled when the Cubs finally won the World Series.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Diane (Gary) Epping; her grandchildren, Mike (Tara Pryor) Epping, Lisa Epping Madden; her great grandchildren, Trevor, Ashley and Jared Epping and Taylor (Seth) Schmidt, and Alexis, Garrick and Kenna Madden and Malik and Desiree; and her great-great-grandson Braden,

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary Scoville; a sister, Lorraine (Jack) Schroeder; and a brother, LeRoy Hansen.

Funeral services honoring Shirley's life will be held on Monday, April 1, 2019, at 11:00AM at St. Mary's Lutheran Church, 2001 80th Street.  Interment will follow in Green Ridge Cemetery.  A visitation for Shirley will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
