Eva Latham (Vaux) - Class Of 1936

Eva Mary Latham Vaux, aged 90 passed away peacefully in her sleep at Hospitality Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Sunday November 8, 2009 in a room she shared with her husband of 63 years, Everett W. Vaux.  They were married on November 24, 1945 at St. James Rectory, Kenosha.

After retirement from Andy’s Restaurant in 1981 as a waitress for 15 years, Eva became active in numerous choirs and senior choruses in Kenosha, including both St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Trinity Lutheran Church and the Senior Center. She was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Eva attended St. James Catholic School and served as the Secretary of her class.  She was an avid athlete and a member of the Kenosha Bike Club, earning four 100-mile medals long before distance bicycle riding was fashionable.

She is preceded in death by her loving mother, Helena Pratt Latham Beland; her father, Clifford; step-father, George; and son Daniel Anthony Vaux.

She was the loving grandmother of Kevin Pursell, Kenosha, Alexandra and Lauren Zens, Whitefish Bay.

She is survived by her husband; six children:  Clifford Vaux of Ellsworth, ME, Morgan Vaux of Los Angeles, CA., Evelyn Vaux of St. Petersburg, FL, Julie Wolff of Lake Villa, IL, Eileen Zens of Whitefish Bay, WI, and Michael Vaux of Kenosha.

She was a dutiful wife and mother and faithful servant of God and his church throughout her lifetime.  May you rest in peace Mother, and guide us from above.  We love you and will miss you.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on November 13, 2009 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, followed by interment in St. James Cemetery.
