Joyce Marie Moilanen, 69 (pictured at right from the 1961 Spy), of Kenosha, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Froedert Hospital, Milwaukee.
Born in La Crosse, WI on February 21, 1943, she was the daughter of Leo and Wilda (Thompson) Becker. She attended high school in La Crosse and was a 1960 graduate from Mary D. Bradford High School.
Joyce married David Moilanen on June 29, 1963 at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church. They were blessed with two children and 49 years of marriage.
Spending most of her life as a homemaker, Joyce also worked at Lehman Nursing Home, Nosco Printing Company for 5 years and also taught Sunday School.
Joyce adored spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren. She liked to go to rummage sales and to the casinos. She enjoyed parasailing, jig saw puzzles, crossword puzzles and word searches. She had a passion for collecting swan figurines and pictures. She was an active member at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church and always put others before herself, a caring, kind-hearted woman who was selfless and generous. Joyce was also an active supporter of the U.A.W. Local 72 with her husband.
Joyce will be missed by her husband, David; her mother, Wilda; her son, Keith (Nancy) Moilanen; her daughter Stacey (Kevin) Aker; her grandchildren, Kaelan and Kyrielle Aker, canine grand dog, Lexi; her sister Darlene Becker, her brother Dwayne (Mary) Becker along with loving nieces and nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral services were held on September 21, 2012 at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church, Kenosha.
