IN MEMORY

Melvin Dahl - Class Of 1960

Melvin Allen Dahl, age 82, passed away on September 11, 2024, in Peoria, AZ, in the presence of his family. Born on August 15, 1942, in Kenosha, WI, he was the son of Melvin Allen Dahl and Emily Jane (nee Schneider) Dahl. Melvin attended McKinley Jr High School and graduated from Bradford High School, Class of 1960.

Melvin met his wife, Karen Dahl, at their 25th high school reunion; they married in 1987; later divorced; but remained together until his death. Mel & Karen were snowbirds for 15 years, spending the winters in Sun City, AZ and summers in Wisconsin. Mel was an avid golfer, but he found his passion in Sun City: pickleball. It was not unusual for Mel to play pickleball for several hours in the morning and then 18 holes of golf in the afternoon; he was always an over-achiever. Melvin retired in 2020 as VP of Sales at Mathers Associates.

Mel is survived by Karen Dahl; children: Robert (Amy) Dahl, William Dahl, Lisa (John) Skinner; grandchildren: Matthew (Leslie) Dahl, Emma Dahl and Allen Dahl; sister, Jane Vega; sister-in-law, Helen Dahl; and cousins: Nancy Schneider, Cheryl Eisenhower, Robert Schneider, Jim Welch and Kenneth Dahl; and his first wife, Shirley Dahl. He loved visiting his children and grandchildren in Texas and Oklahoma and regularly made the trip down to see them.

Mel was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Emily Dahl; son, Joseph Dahl; brother, Lee Dahl and aunts, Lorraine Blazavier and Audrey Welch. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
