Sophie Tunkieicz (Gotta) - Class Of 1949

Sophie Gotta, 82, of Kenosha, died unexpectedly on Monday, December 9, 2013, at United Hospital Systems Kenosha Campus.

Born in Kenosha on April 1, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Alphonso and Monica (Jasulis) Tunkieicz.  She attended local schools and was a graduate of Kenosha High School.  She later completed accounting courses at Gateway Technical College.

In 1957 in Kenosha, she was united in marriage to Andrea “Andy” J. Gotta.  He preceded her in death on April 14, 1993.

After graduation, she began her administrative career in family dentistry.  She was employed with Przlomski Family Dentistry and, at the time of her death, with R. Stephen Willding Family Dentistry.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a former member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.  She was also a member of the Kenosha Women of the Moose Chapter #155.  Sophie was a talented cook, seamstress, shopper and caregiver to her nieces puppies.  Sophie was very independent and looked forward to traveling, especially to Florida.

Sophie is survived by her longtime companion, Roy Tinnes; her two special nieces, Susan (Mark) Reinhold of Greenwood Village, CO, and Patricia Tyunaitis of Malone, WI; her two special great nieces, Stephanie (William Matthew) Shumate of Coconut Grove, FL, and Michelle Reinhold of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and many other loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Antoinette Tyunaitis and Helen Hrupka; and her three brothers, Eddie, Charlie and Stanley Tunkieicz.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 13, 2013. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM at St. Mary Catholic Church (7400 39th Avenue, Kenosha). Relatives and friends are asked to meet at the church for the Mass.  Entombment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum.  A visitation for Sophie will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, December 12, from 5:00PM until 7:00PM.  Memorial remembrances to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Wisconsin, 200 S. Executive Dr., Ste. 203, Brookfield, WI 53005, would be appreciated.
