John H. "Jack" Coates, 87 (pictured at right from the 1945 Spy), of Kenosha, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2015, at United Hospital Systems-Kenosha Campus.  Born on April 20, 1927, in Milwaukee, he was the son of the late Howard and Luella (Born) Coates. Jack also received his BBA in accounting from UW-Madison.

On September 7, 1957, he was united in marriage to Carol Paulson in Illinois. They were blessed with 39 years of marriage before she passed away on July 18, 1997.

Jack was employed with AMC/Chrysler for 40 years, retiring in April of 1989, as a supervisor in Cost Accounting.

He was an avid bowler and a 20-year member of the Kenosha Bowling Association, where he served two terms as President and also sat on their Board of Directors. Jack also enjoyed reading, especially westerns, military and history books. He was a Snoopy collector and loved following his favorite sports teams, the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers. Jack always looked forward to his Saturday morning breakfasts with Larry, Greta, Rhonda and Eva.

He will be missed by his niece, Chris Hinshaw; two great nieces, Melissa and Ashley Hinshaw and great nephew, Steven Hinshaw.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Coates and a nephew, Rick Coates.

A visitation for Jack will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 17, 2015, from 5:00PM to 8:00PM.  Private interment will be held in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.  Honoring his love of dogs, in lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to the Safe Harbor Humane Society, 7811 60th Ave., Kenosha, WI 53142, would be appreciated by the family.

Jack's family would like to extend a special thank you to his caregiver, Todd Larsen, for the wonderful care he afforded Jack over the past 5 years.
