Doreene Petzke (Baltrus) - Class Of 1942

Doreene E. Baltrus, 87, of Kenosha died on December 30, 2012, at Froedtert Memorial Hospital, Wauwatosa.

 

Born in Kenosha on June 7, 1925, she was the only child born to the late Elmer and Edna (Zimmerman) Petzke.  She attended Kenosha schools and was a graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School.

 

For 16 years, she was employed at Abbott Labs, retiring in 1991.  She was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church.  Doreene enjoyed going on casino trips, playing slots, golfing, swimming in her pool, and looked forward to her weekly card games with friends. For over 20 years, she was a ceramic teacher in her basement with her mother.  Doreene will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit.  For many years, she volunteered at the Wisconsin Tourist Center, Kemper Center and Kenosha Unified Schools.

 

Doreene will be remembered by her children, Dr. JoAnn Schoepke of Santa Fe, NM and Thomas (Vicki Kalcic) Baltrus of Kenosha; her granddaughter, Shana (Brooke Stanford) Schoepke; and her two great grandchildren, Cameron and Jordan Stanford.

 

A Memorial Service in celebration of Doreene’s life was held on January 5, 2013 at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home, followed by inurnment in Green Ridge Cemetery.  A gathering of relatives and friends was held at the funeral home just prior to the Memorial Service.
