Chester J. “Chet” Frye, 89, of Kenosha, died on Sunday, January 13, 2013, at United Hospital System Kenosha Campus.
Born April 19, 1923, the only child of George and Sophie (Stulka) Frye, Chet was a lifelong resident of Kenosha and attended local schools.
From 1943 to 1946, he served our country with honor and pride in the United States Marine Corps., 5th Amphibious Corps, stationed in Hawaii, Sister Islands; Saipan and Tinian, and Iwo Jima, Japan.
On June 8, 1946, Chet was united in marriage to Ann W. Muellenberg at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Racine. After 66 years, sadly the love of his life preceded him in death on May 29, 2012.
He was employed by Coopers for 22 years, advancing from the Knitting Dept. to the Maintenance Dept. Chet was then employed by Kenosha Water Utility - Pumping Division for over 26 years, retiring as a Supervisor in 1985.
Always active in his community, Chet was a life member of the V.F.W. Post #1865, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #286, Coopers Co-Vet Club and Coopers Rod & Reel Club. He was a member of the former St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, where he served his Parish as an usher and was a member of the Men’s Club. An avid outdoorsman, Chet was an Explorer Scout Leader and enjoyed hunting, boating, camping and fishing, and even made his own lures and tied flies.
Left to comfort one another with loving memories of Chet are his daughters, Sandra Wladkowski and Carol (John) Lesnik; two grandchildren, Mark (Jeana) Lesnik and Heather (Jody Trieloff) Frick; and three great-grandchildren, Ryne and Matthew Lesnik, and Logan Trieloff. Chet will also be missed by his good friend and fishing buddy, Ron.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Lesnik, in infancy, and his son-in-law, Ed Wladkowski.
Funeral Services for Chet will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at 11:00AM at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home. Entombment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. A visitation for Chet will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00AM until the time of the service.
