Janet Cummings (Fredrickson) - Class Of 1939

Janet M. Fredrickson, 90, of Kenosha passed away on November 21, 2010 at Washington Manor surrounded by her loving family.

Born on June 13, 1920, in Kenosha, WI, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Laura Cummings.  Janet spent her early years in Glen Ellen, IL and returned to Kenosha in 1935.  She attended local schools and was a graduate of Kenosha High School.

Janet was a graduate of Yoyer Academy of Arts and Design in Chicago, IL. She went to New York and worked as an apprentice designer for a few years.  She enjoyed making and designing her own clothing and did her own sewing her entire life.  On September 12, 1941, she married Clyde Fredrickson. He preceded her in death in 1993.  Janet worked at J.C. Penney for a short time and later went to Lepp & Co. where she retired after 30 years.

Survivors include her brother, Fred Chandler (Jean) Cummings of Kenosha; sister, Sally Bonzer of Eugene, OR; brother-in-law, Russ (Dottie) Fredrickson; half sister, Marilyn Stephens of Wisconsin; a niece, Carol (Keith) Drysdale of Kenosha; and her nephew, James (Lisa) Cummings of Madison, WI. She is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.

In accordance with Janet’s wishes, funeral services were held privately.
