On January 3, 1942, she married her childhood sweetheart, Kenneth B. Wiersum. He preceded her in death on September 1, 1976.

For all who knew Elaine, her family was her pride and joy. She is survived by her three children: Janet (David) Parmentier of Pleasant Prairie, and Kathryn (Richard) Quackenbush and Kenneth (Nancy) Wiersum, both of Naperville, IL; eight grandchildren: David (Karen) Parmentier, Thomas (Nancy) Parmentier, Brian (Lisa) Parmentier, Anne (David) Blair, Eric (Annie) Johnson, Christine (Andrew) Moir, Benjamin Wiersum and Kathryn Wiersum; and three step-grandchildren: Roger (Cindy) Quackenbush, Tonya (Bruce) Bennett, and Ashsa (Michael) McHale. She was always willing and able to help care for her thirteen great-grandchildren: David, Jacob, Alex, Shannon, Joshua, Madelyn, and Meghan Parmentier, Iain and Quinn Blair, Christian Quackenbush, Justin and Brandon Bennett, and Alexandria McHale.

Elaine was especially close to her twin’s children, Marilyn Morton, Linnea Pitts, and Elizabeth Puntillo.

She is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews.

Elaine was a member of St. Mary’s Lutheran Church and involved in their Friendly Center. She lived an active life. She was a Sunday school teacher, a member of the Kenosha Schubert Club, and a Girl Scout leader. She perfected the art of apple pie making, loved to make her spritz Christmas cookies, and enjoyed sewing, cooking, and traveling.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three wonderful sisters: her twin Helen Vogler, Lydia Lienau, and Joan Weise.

Visitation and funeral services were held on Friday, September 9, at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church. Interment was private.
