Gladys James, 93, a long-time area resident, died Tuesday, January 14, 2014, in Woodruff, WI.  She was born July 13, 1920, in Kenosha, WI, to parents August and Caroline Barth.  

Gladys and her husband lived on the Ferncroft property on Ballard Lake in Star Lake, WI for 60 years. She was a member of the Plum Lake Womens Club, Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church  and active in the Sayner Museum and Library.  

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, William on October 7, 1991.

She is survived by her son, Jack (Jill) James of Land O Lakes, WI; daughter, Carol Lynn (Larry) Brechner of Highland, IN; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandaughter.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church in Sayner, WI.
