Eleanor Hansen (Baas) - Class Of 1935

Eleanor F. Baas, 96, of Kenosha passed away on March 3, 2013, at Parkside Manor.

She was born on February 24, 1917, in Kenosha to Andrew and Johannah (Nelson) Hansen. Eleanor married Leonard Baas at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church on September 16, 1938. She was employed at Kenosha Memorial Hospital, Jockey, American Motors and Kenosha Unified School District as a teacher’s aide until her retirement in 1979. She was a member of St. Mary’s Lutheran Church, the Altar Guild, the Quilters, the Lutheran Womens’ Circle and the senior choir. Eleanor was also active in the Danish Sisterhood, the Friendly Center and Friends of the Museum, but her greatest joy was the time she spent with her family.

She was preceded in death by, her parents; her husband, Leonard; her son-in-law, Anthony Apostoli; her grandson, Robert Apostoli; her brother, Robert Hansen; her sister, Mary Jane Andersen; and her brother-in-law, John Andersen.

Eleanor is survived by, her son, Larry (Ann) Baas of Valparaiso, Ind.; her daughter, Sharon Apostoli of Kenosha; five grandchildren, Linnea Apostoli, Michael (Abby) Baas, Dawn (Frank) Lichter, Jodie (Gerald) Brown and Emily (Austin) Aytes; eight great grandchild; as well as other family and friends.

A memorial service was held on March 16, 2013 at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church.
