John Pavlic - Class Of 1927

John G. Pavlic, 91 (pictured at right from the 1927 Spy), went to God, at home, with his family present, Thursday, December 23, 1999.

John was born in Kenosha on January 2, 1908, son of the late John and Anna Pavlic (nee: Marineis).  John graduated from Kenosha High School and Moore's Business College in Kenosha.  He was united in marriage to Clare Karls on July 13, 1935, at Holy Name Catholic Church.  He was employed by the J.I. Case Company from 1929 until his retirement in 1973 as Superintendent of Specification.  John was a member of St. Lucy Catholic Church and an usher of the church for many years.  He was an avid sportsman.  John was the "Michael Jordan" of the J.I. Case Basketball League in his younger years and later played in softball, golf and bowling leagues.  Volunteer work also kept him busy for the United Way Fund, a Dad Girl Scout, a neighborhood aide for the Village of Elmwood Park, and he was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.  To his family, he was doctor, lawyer, Indian Chief, and oh, so loved. He will be sadly missed.

Survivors include his loving wife, Clare; his daughter, Karen (Luis) Kortlang of Racine; son-in-law, John Kierstyn of Sturgeon Bay; his two grandchildren, Lisa (Terry) Compton and Natasha Kortlang; two great-grandchildren, Harrison and Natalie Compton; sister, Elizabeth Poplawski of Mequon; brother, Albert (Leona) Pavlic of Wilmington, Delaware; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Frank (Josephine) Karls of Racine, Albert (Mary) Karls of Florida; many nieces, nephew, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Barbara Ann Pavlic; daughter, Judith Ann Kierstyn; and two sisters, Rose Manson and Ann Pavlic.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Lucy Catholic Church (3101 Drexel Avenue, Racine) on Monday, December 27, 1999, at 11:00AM, with the Reverend Jeffrey M. Theilen officiating.  Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Kinzie Avenue.  Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Monday from 10:00AM until the time of Mass.
