IN MEMORY

Eileen Tully (Kent) - Class Of 1939

Eileen Tully Kent died peacefully on November 28, 2009 in the arms of her dear friend Deloris Thornton.  Eileen was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin on February 16, 1922.  She was one of seven children born to James and Helen Alethea Tully.

In May of 1945, Eileen took the first of her many adventures with W. D. "Bill" Kent, taking the train from Wisconsin to Long Beach, California to marry him.  At the end of WW II, Eileen and Bill moved to Houston, Texas where their six sons and two daughters were born.  Eileen embraced the adventures of living in Mexico City, Tehran, and London from 1965 to 1970 with children and dog in tow.  When she and Bill returned to Houston, she could be seen regularly on the ice rink at the Galleria, on the Lakeside tennis courts, in her spectacular gardens and on the deck of her Galveston, Pirates Cove beach house.

Bill, Eileen's husband, died eleven years ago.

Eileen is survived by her eight children, twenty-four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, sisters Dorothy and Pat, nieces and nephews and her close friends at Parkway.

Funeral services were held on December 3, 2009 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Houston, Texas.
