IN MEMORY

Robert Palmehn - Class Of 1947

Robert Carl Palmehn, age 90, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 24, 2019.  He was known for his kindness and caring for others; he was the ultimate giver.  He had a keen sense of humor- always ready to add fun to any conversation.  His love of God, family, church, gardening, history, genealogy, tutoring and poetry – both reading and writing – filled his life.  Music was a strong passion of his life… anything from 30s and 40s big bands and classical symphonies to singing in many choirs for 75 years.  He served at Colonial Church as a deacon, head of the music board and for many years as a Sunday school teacher.  He was proud of his Swedish heritage and was an active member in the Swedish Genealogical Society of Minnesota.

Robert served as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War.  A graduate of the University of Wisconsin in Madison, he worked in Finance for General Motors Aerospace in Milwaukee for 10 years and Honeywell Aerospace in Minneapolis for 30 years, proudly contributing to the Space programs and our nation's defense.

He is survived by loving wife of 67 years Kathy (Kathleen), sons Larry and Tom (Cindy), daughter-in-law Jodi, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and an extended loving family.  He was preceded in death by son Jim, daughter-in-law Lisa and grandson Eric.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, December 7 at 11:30AM at Colonial Church (6200 Colonial Way, Edina, MN).  In Lieu of flowers, a gift to the charity of your choice or Colonial Church would be appreciated.
