Genevieve Becker (Hogrewe) - Class Of 1935

Genevieve F. (Becker) Hogrewe, age 100+, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, August 20, 2017.  Genevieve was born and raised in Kenosha, WI and moved to the Chicago area after graduating high school.  She worked as a housekeeper until she met her husband, Marvin.  She has been an Elgin resident since then, working at Max's grocery, then as a bookkeeper and credit manager at St. Joseph Hospital.  She was also a dynamite sales rep for Fuller Brush, where she made many friends.  

Genevieve was a longtime member of the Elgin Bible Church, where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior.  She was chairwoman of the Pioneer Girls and worked with her sisters, Virginia Nass and Pearl Becker, making many memorable meals for weddings and the special events.  Genevieve will also be remembered for her beautiful vegetable and flower gardens, plus many wonderful meals and baked goods.  Her neighbors will always remember her for the fresh baked loaf of homemade bread and coffee cakes at Christmas.  

She is survived by her children: Bonnie Hogrewe, Charles (Cheryl) Hogrewe and Rick (Wendy) Hogrewe; grandchildren: Stacy Werner and Grant (Janelle) Werner; great grandchild: Tyler Werner; her brother, Erwin Becker; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Hogrewe, her parents: Robert and Augusta Becker, along with 10 siblings.  

Funeral services were held on Friday, August 25, 2017 at the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial followed at Bluff City Cemetery, Elgin.
