Viola Neu (Dam) - Class Of 1933

Viola C. Dam (pictured at right from the 1933 Spy), long-time resident of Fox Lake, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2014.  Prior to living in Fox Lake, she was a long-time resident of Kenosha and Mercer, WI.  She was born on September 12, 1915 in Somers, WI to August and Stella (nee Fonk) Neu.  Viola was united in marriage to Leo A. Dam, Jr. on October 8, 1938 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Kenosha. Together, they owned and operated Fox Lake and Long Lake Lumber. They celebrated over 59 years of marriage until Leo's death in 1998.  Viola was a devout Catholic and member of the Womens' Club at St. Bede Church.  She also loved to play cards and spend time with her family.

Viola will be deeply missed by her loving children, Dr. William (Debbie) Dam, Leonard (Suzanne) Dam, Jaqueline (James) Neve and Kathryn (William) Novak; her grandchildren, Joseph (Brenda) Neve, Christine (John) Kornak, David (Jesse) Neve, Robert (Christa) Dam, Jeffrey (Kristi) Gundelach, Brian (Meli) Dam, Carrie Gundelach, Connie (Philip) Egleston, Case, John (Jen), Marike, Celestine and Cecelia Dam; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her dear husband, Leo A. Dam, Jr., her sister Dorothy (Case) Dam, her parents and by many brothers and sisters-in-law.

Funeral Mass was held Friday, March 7, 2014 at St. Bede Catholic Church in Ingleside, followed by interment at St. Bede Cemetery.
