Don Winters - Class Of 1947

Donald Franklin Winters, age 82 (pictured at right from the 1947 Spy), of Clermont, FL passed away on Friday, March 16, 2012, at his residence.

Donald was born October 10, 1929 in Minot, ND, the second son of the late Hervey Gregg and Janet Winther Winters. He grew up in Kenosha, WI.  

Don Winters was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Stout, and received his Master’s Degree from the University of Georgia. He worked approximately 22 years in the field of education. He retired as a rural letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service after 16-1/2 years of service. He had resided in Clermont, FL since his retirement from the Postal Service in 1991.

He is survived by two daughters:  Janet Wells (Jim) and Donna Winters both of Hephzibah, GA; three sons:  Jon Winters, Anthony "Tony" Winters (Gayle Harp) all of Hephzibah, GA and Jerry Winters (Cissy) of Sylvania, GA; and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

His older brother Gregg L. Winters and his loving wife Bonnie preceded him in death. 

Graveside services were Friday, March 23, 2012 in the Swainsboro City Cemetery with Rev. Roan Powell officiating.
