Donald Whyte - Class Of 1941

Donald William Whyte Sr., 93, of Birchwood, WI died Monday, May 30, 2016.  He only missed one anniversary with his wife last year, but will spend their 72nd wedding anniversary with her in heaven.

He was born on October 23, 1922, in Kenosha, WI to Robert and Pansy Marguerite (Johnson) Whyte.  Don graduated from Bradford High School in Kenosha then entered the United States Marines and served during World War II as an aircraft mechanic and was honorably discharged in 1946.  He was married to Ellen Will on July 20, 1944 in Kenosha.  Don was Vice President of the MacWhyte Corporation.  He loved to build things, play cribbage, fish golf, travel and just spend time with his wife.

Don is survived by their twins, daughter Ellen (Buzz McKowen) of Birchwood, WI and Donald Jr. of Kenosha; a granddaughter Megan Benson Nightingale (Kirk Benson) of Minneapolis, MN; four great-grandchildren, Kieran, Wynn, Kalli and Gaby; a brother, George "Dode" Whyte of Kenosha; and nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Whyte; his parents; a brother, Robert Jr.; and two sisters, Mary and Jean.

Visitation and funeral services were held on Friday, June 3, 2016 at the United Methodist Church in Birchwood with Rev. Mark Bartlett officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the United Methodist Church in Birchwood, WI.
