Armida Barocca (Olson) - Class Of 1938

Armida Olson, age 90, a resident of St. Joseph's Home, Pleasant Prairie, WI, died there on Saturday, November 27, 2010.  She was born on January 13, 1920, in Kenosha, WI, and was the daughter of the late Peter and Elvira (Amici) Barocca. She attended local schools.

On November 4, 1950, at Holy Rosary in Kenosha, she was united in marriage to Calvin M. Olson.  Calvin preceded her in death on January 19, 2008.  She was very career-oriented and loved to work in the business world.  Armida was employed as a secretary and bookkeeper for several Kenosha area businesses, including Harbert's Auto Parts.  She was also a talented seamstress, and for many years, she was the manager of So Fro Fabrics.  She was a former member of St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church in Kenosha and more recently a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Inverness, FL.

After their retirement in 1987, Armida and her husband moved to Inverness, FL. In their free time, Calvin played golf and she played bridge.  After Calvin's death in 2008, Armida moved back to Kenosha.  She leaves behind many good friends from both Kenosha and Florida.

She is survived by her four sisters-in-law, Margaret (Tom) Soule, Doris Bohansky, Ann Olson and Helen Barocca; and 20 nieces and nephews:  Patricia Karabetsos, Paul, Peter and Gregory Simo, Carol Lyons, Richard Bohansky, Toby and Eric Olson, Terry Walker, Susan, John, Robert and Kelly Puntillo, Tom Soule, Betsy Wells, Carrie Norris, Dick and John Barocca, Ann Schleyhahn and Adele Sannwald.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two children in infancy, Peter Calvin and Sidnie Elizabeth Olson; two brothers, Aldo and Angelo Barocca; and a sister, Adelle Simo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 1, 2010, at noon in the chapel of St. Joseph's Home (9244 29th Avenue, Pleasant Prairie). Entombment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum.  A visitation will be held at St. Joseph's Home from 11:00AM until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances directed to Hospice Alliance Inc. (10220 Prairie Ridge Blvd., Pleasant Prairie, WI) or St. Joseph's Home would be appreciated.
