IN MEMORY

Anona Heyden (Roman) - Class Of 1939

Anona Roman completed her life on earth and left for her home in Heaven on September 27, 2015. She was born in Kenosha, WI on July 27, 1920 and has been a resident of Sunnyvale, CA since 1960.

Mom and Dad married in Kenosha in 1940 and celebrated 68 wonderful years together. Their lives and their home were filled with love and laughter. Their marriage was based on a strong faith in God and love for all those around them. Anona was known as "Mom" not only to her two children but to countless others as well.

Dad served in WWII, and Mom followed him everywhere he was stationed, from New York to San Francisco. There are priceless stories of how that helped shape the remarkable marriage they shared. They had two children, Carol, born in 1945 and Paul born in 1949.

In 1960, they moved to Sunnyvale. They bought their home and lived there together until Dad's death in 2008. It was hard to imagine one without the other, but Mom was a very strong woman who carried on a full life filled with family and friends.

Mom worked for many years as a payroll supervisor at United Technologies. When she retired from there, she joined Dad as a real estate broker for Roman Realities. Mom and Dad were members of St. Andrews Episcopal Church for over 30 years.

Anona was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, in 2008 and her son, Paul, in 2002.

She is survived by her daughter Carol (Marvin) Lee of Mooresville, NC; five5 grandchildren:  Ron, Christopher and Michael Lee of Mooresville, NC and Ryan and Becky Roman of Campbell, CA; three great grandchildren, Savannah Lee and Ruby and Scarlet Roman; and four nephews Richard and Jeff Heyden and Lawrence and Bradley Roman.

Friends were invited to attend a Celebration of Life on October 2, 2015 at Lima & Campagna Sunnyvale Mortuary, with interment to follow in Los Gatos Memorial Park, San Jose.
