Helen Shebet (Prince) - Class Of 1939

Mrs. Helen Shebet Prince (pictured at right from the 1939 Spy) passed away on June 12, 2006.  She was born on September 1, 1920, the daughter of the late Dominesha and Constantine Shebet.   

Mrs. Prince was a member of the First Baptist Church of Monroe on St. John Street and was a Sunday school teacher.  She was the daughter of Russian immigrants.  Mrs. Prince graduated from Charity Hospital in Shreveport as a Registered Nurse and retired after many years of service at Glenwood Hospital.  She was also a member of the Republican Woman.  She enjoyed her times with the ULM Faculty Wives.  Her family will remember her as an unselfish and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Prince was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. B. Earl Prince; her brother, Walter Shebet; and her beloved puppy, Nicky.

She is survived by her daughters: Polly Prince Coleman and her husband, Jackie, of Monroe; and Connie Prince Street of Monroe, LA; her sister: Nina Johnston of Denton, TX; a nephew, Richard Johnston; grandchildren:  Scott Coleman, Michelle Coleman, Hunter Street and Madison Street all of Monroe and her feline companion, Angel.

Funeral services for Mrs. Prince were held on June 15, 2006 in the Chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe, officiated by Dr. John A. “Bud” Traylor, with interment to follow at Monroe Memorial Park.
