IN MEMORY

Sharon DeSeife (Greidanus) - Class Of 1960

Sharon Lee Greidanus went to live with Jesus on Saturday, January 8, 2022.  She passed away peacefully at home with family by her side.

Sharon was born in Kenosha, WI, on May 20, 1942, to the late Alfred and Ruth (O’Brien) DeSeife.  On September 12, 1962, she married James William Greidanus, who she met at Ladish Tri-Clover in Kenosha, WI. They were married for 33 wonderful years until he passed.

Sharon was a member of New Life Lutheran Church (Formerly Mount Zion) in Kenosha, WI.  She was baptized and confirmed at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School, both in Kenosha, WI.  She lived on two acres that she loved to mow with her John Deere.  Sharon “Momo” was known as a kind, giving, and compassionate person who loved spending time with family.  She loved giving her grandchildren lawnmower rides and free underage driving lessons in her Jeep around the yard.

Sharon wore many hats throughout her life.  She was a Lutheran Girl Pioneers Leader; taught nature at National Camp, where she was affectionately called the “Bug Lady”; raised Collies; and rescued several stray cats throughout her life.  She loved anything nature or outdoors, which included going up north, camping, fishing, and ATVing.  She was also a school bus driver and trainer for Jelco and a caregiver.  She earned her certificate in Desktop Publishing from Gateway Technical College and retired as a Graphic Designer from Abbott.  She was a creative person who enjoyed crocheting Victorian Christmas ornaments and making beautiful symbols of Christ called Chrismons.  She also studied watercolor painting techniques at the Pallet and Chisel Academy in Chicago, IL, and became an avid watercolor painter.

Sharon is survived by her children Debra (Jeffrey) Mitka of Kenosha, WI, Joy Greidanus of Greenwood, WI, and Robert Greidanus of Wheatland, WI; grandchildren Tyler Mischo, Korinne Greidanus, Jamie (Quin) Lenz, Jacob Voigt, Joseph Mitka, Andrew Greidanus and Taylor Mitka; great grandchildren Mateo Bedolla-Greidanus, Camila Bedolla-Greidanus, and Louin Lenz; sister Diane (Larry) Vogelsang of Tujunga, CA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brothers, Alfred Jr., Donald and David DeSeife, all of Kenosha, WI.

Celebration of life will be held from 10:00AM until time of service at 11:00AM on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at New Life Lutheran Church (formerly Mount Zion, 5927 37th Ave., Kenosha), with burial to follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park (4300 Green Bay Rd., Kenosha).  In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested donations may be made to Hospice Alliance or the American Cancer Society.
