IN MEMORY

Elga Gottliebsen (Rohrer) - Class Of 1947

Elga M. Rohrer, 91, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully Monday morning, January 25, 2021, at The Manor of Kenosha.

Born in Kenosha May 1, 1929, Elga was the daughter of Lenius and Edith Gottliebsen who immigrated to the United States from Denmark.

After graduating from Bradford High School, Elga worked as a secretary at the Oster Company of Racine.  She married Alfred Rohrer on January 27, 1951.  She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Lutheran Church.

Elga hosted a multitude of foreign exchange students over the years, as well as friends and family from Denmark. Hers was an open-door policy.  She enjoyed travel, beginning with a family trip to Denmark when she was a little girl in 1937 and continuing with seeing Europe and Russia.  Not to mention road trips around the United States with six kids in a station wagon.

Elga enjoyed attending prayer breakfast and also helped start the Friendly Center at her church.  Her hobbies of rosemaling, antique glass collecting, genealogy and taking care of the plants at church occupied her later years.

Elga is survived by five children:  Daniel, Lisa (Ben) Rens, Amy (Scott) Gallo, Eric (Molly), and Neal (Lorie); and seven grandchildren:  Cortney and Libby Rens, Dana Roth, Danielle Bramel, Dane Rohrer and Grace and Nolan Rohrer.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Alfred, her daughter, Kate, and her brother, Lenius.

Private Graveside Services will be held at Green Ridge Cemetery.  A Celebration of Life for Elga will be held at a later date.
