As mentioned in a brief item on our Home Page, the Class of 1940 held a mini reunion on Tuesday, October 19.  Ahead of that event, we researched members from the Class of 1940 who live out of town.  Our favorite research assistant, Bobbie Monson ’57, had found information that would seem to indicate Virginia Brokaw Augustine ’40 had passed away in 2017.

We did some searching, too, and located her niece, Kim, and sent a letter requesting assistance in locating a copy of Virginia’s obituary.  She called today with word Virginia had passed away in April 2017, but unfortunately, no obituary was published.  Virginia was preceded in death by her dear husband, Sylvester F. “Jack” Augustine, whose obituary is posted on this website; her parents, Wilbur and Josephine (Self) Brokaw; and her siblings, Robert Brokaw and Arlene Cunningham. 

When time permits, we will bring home a 1940 Spy so that we may add Virginia’s senior picture to this post.  Rest in peace, Virginia.
