Mary Mazzei (Gallo) - Class Of 1935

Mary R. Gallo, 94, of Kenosha, passed away Monday, January 26, 2009, at Brookside Care Center.  Born April 3, 1914, in Kenosha, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Angeline (Covelli) Mazzei. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, she was educated in local schools.

On July 9, 1941, she married Michele L. Gallo at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on August 7, 2000. 

Before her marriage, Mary worked as a secretary for the Italian American Society.  She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and Italian American Ladies Auxiliary.

She was a pianist in a band in the 1930’s and loved to play the piano for family gatherings. She loved to bake; her chocolate chip cookies and pecan pie were sent out far and wide. She enjoyed warm water and swimming. Mary was a wonderful mother and grandmother; family was very important to her.

Surviving are a daughter, Maria (James) Soule of St. Petersburg, FL; a sister Gloria (Herbert) Snell of Hixson, TN; three sisters-in-law, Santina Tenuta, Frances Hansen and Pearl Gallo; a brother-in-law, Louis Gallo; her two grandchildren, Douglas J. Soule of Boston, MA, and Julie C. Soule of St. Petersburg, FL; and also Louise Lulack, Kathleen Ford, Angela Ventura, Leslie Snell and David Snell and many other special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, three brothers, two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on January 29, 2009 at Our Lady of The Holy Rosary Catholic Church, followed by interment in at St. George Cemetery.
