William "Bill" Werner - Class Of 1941

William "Bill" Werner, 87, of Kenosha, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2011 surrounded by family.  He was born on March 3, 1923 in Kenosha, the son of the late Charles T. and Veronica "Vern" (Thomas) Werner.  He served in the United States Navy during World War II.  On September 27, 1944 he married Mary Ellen Thompson at St. George Catholic Church in Kenosha.  Bill was the President of Werner’s Laundry and Cleaners, a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church.  He enjoyed fishing, golfing, sailing and family centered activities.

William is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Ellen; his four children, Mary Beth (Paul) Krogh of Burlington, Bill (MaryAnn) Werner of Mequon, John (Chris) Werner of Bristol, and Tom (Kim) Werner of Minneapolis, MN; eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Kenton) Powell, Carolyn (George) Nellessen, Drew Werner, Alison (Gavin) Gray, Laura Werner, Diane Werner, T.J. Werner, and Abby Werner; twin great-granddaughters, Annabelle and Ruby Powell; and one brother, Joe (Sue) Werner of Minneapolis, MN.

William was preceded in death by his beloved infant daughter, Ruth Ann; his parents; and three brothers, Bob, Gene and Keith Werner.

A funeral Mass was held at St. Mark’s Catholic Church on January 28, 2011, followed by interment in St. George Cemetery.
