William Guttormsen - Class Of 1946

William “Bill” Guttormsen, 77, of Santa Rosa, CA, and formerly of Bremerton, died October 4, 2005.

Born in Kenosha, WI on April 11, 1928, he played basketball for Bradford High School there and was inducted into the Kenosha Hall of Fame.  After high school, he served in the Navy at Sand Point Naval Air Station near Seattle, playing basketball there.

Later, he attended Olympic College and played on the school's basketball team, ranked fourth in the nation. He married fellow student Naomi Stumpf and attended the University of San Francisco on a basketball scholarship.

Mr. Guttormsen toured internationally with a semi-pro basketball team and went on to a teaching career, retiring in 1986.

Surviving are his wife; children, Laura Guttormsen, Bill "Scuff" Guttormsen, Jr. and Jeff Guttormsen (Kim); granddaughters, Nicole and Wendy; and brother, Richard (Mary).

The family has suggested memorials be directed to Memorial Hospice of Santa Rosa.
