Roger Lemnus - Class Of 1958

Roger Lemnus, 73, of Pleasant Prairie, died on Thursday, February 27, 2014, at United Hospital Systems, Kenosha Campus.

He was born in Kenosha on June 2, 1940, the son of Raymond and Leona (Hosier) Lemnus. He attended local schools and graduated from Bradford High School in 1958.  Roger attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where he received his Bachelors Degree in Education and a Masters Degree and Specialist Certificate in School Administration.

On August 20, 1966, he married Inez Plautz at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in the Town of Berlin in Marathon County, WI.  Roger was employed for 32 years as a teacher and then as a principal with the Zion Elementary School District #6, retiring in 1994. He then spent an additional 6 years working as an administrator at McKinley Middle School in Kenosha.

Roger served the community as a volunteer medic and EMT with the Scout Leaders Rescue Squad since 1975.  He was also a past member of the school board of KUSD where he served two terms.  He was an active lay leader at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church where he served on many committees, the church council and as a past president of the congregation.

Survivors include his wife, Inez, of Pleasant Prairie; two daughters, Sarah (Richard) Sovitzky of Milwaukee and Martha (James) Kannas of Brookfield, nine grandchildren and a brother, Roy, of St. Petersburg, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Roger will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church with interment to follow at Green Ridge Cemetery.  A visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at the Hansen-Lendman Funeral Home and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00AM until the time of service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be greatly appreciated.
