William Hunt - Class Of 1949

William D. Hunt, 78, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Friday, November 6, 2009 at his residence.

He was born on September 21, 1931 to the late Franklin and Myrtle (Ruelle) Hunt in Kenosha. He was educated in the schools of Kenosha and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School. He went to UWM and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree.

William entered the US Army on January 21, 1953 and honorably discharged on December 30, 1954. He was with the 502nd Military Police and was discharged as a Corporal. He served during the Korean War receiving the Army Occupation Medal for Germany and the National Defense Medal.

On February 4, 1956 he married Helen Ogren in Kenosha. She preceded him in death on February 24, 1973. He then married Barbara Testard on April 11, 1974. She preceded him in death on June 29, 2007.

William worked as a teacher for the Kenosha Unified School District for 35 years, retiring in 1996.

He was an avid bowler, golfer, fisherman and sports fan.

William is survived by his sons, Jeffrey (Vickie) Hunt of Kenosha and Gregg Hunt of Almond, WI; his sister, Mildred “Toots” Olsen of Stevens Point, WI; his grandchildren David and Jared;  his great grandchildren Heaven and Hayes.  His stepfamily, Jeffrey Schad and Connie Thomas, grandchildren Kelly, Katie and Danny and his great grandchild Michela also survive him.

He is preceded in death by his brothers Eugene and Orville and a sister Maxine.

Funeral Services for William were held on November 10, 2009 at the Bruch Funeral Home. Interment with Full Military Honors followed at St. James Cemetery.
