Herb Weinbrenner - Class Of 1942

Herbert Richard Weinbrenner, 92, went to be with his Lord on January 28, 2016.

Herbert was born on January 17, 1924, to Ernst and Minna (nee: Kneppe) Weinbrenner in Weidenau, Germany. They immigrated to Kenosha in March of 1927. Herbert was part of the Bradford High School graduating class of 1942. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a Bachelor degree in Business Administration in 1949 and from UW Milwaukee with a Master Degree in Business Administration in 1970. Herbert honorably served our country in the United States Army in World War II. He served in the Philippines and Southwestern Pacific Theater and was a reservist for 12 years after the war. Herbert was united in marriage to the love of his life, Eleanor, on April 28, 1951 in Kenosha. For almost 50 years their family took Labor Day trips to Camp Anokijig. He worked in many managerial positions in his career, working at Webster Electric Company. After 34 years of hard work, Herbert retired in March of 1988.

Herbert was a dedicated member of Calvary Memorial Church for 40 years serving as an usher, Sunday school teacher, and on various boards and committees of the church. He attended Grace Church where he also served as an usher. Herbert was known as an avid fisherman. He especially loved taking his grandchildren fishing with him. Herbert was proudly involved in the 2013 Honor Flight for World War II veterans to their monument in Washington DC.

Herbert will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Eleanor; his children, Sandra (Alois) Ortler, Heidi Olson, Carey (Kurt) Pedersen, and Paul (Laura) Weinbrenner; grandchildren, Erika (Mike) Billings, Lindsay Olson, Sam Olson, Matt (fiancé Sabrina Pruszka) Pedersen, Mike Pedersen, Kristie (fiancé Jay Rogers) Pedersen, Emily and Kyle Weinbrenner; great-grandchildren, Anna and Jaxson Billings; brother-in-law, Lee (Joyce) Weinbrenner; and many other loving nieces and nephews.

Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, Ernst and Minna Weinbrenner; his daughter, Amy Weinbrenner; his sister, Lore Erdmann; and his parents-in-law, Bernhard and Lydia Weinbrenner.

Funeral services for Herbert will be held on Monday, February 1, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home with Pastor Joel Lindsey officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Sunday, January 31 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the funeral home, and again on Monday, February 1 from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Memorials may be directed to Grace Church, 3626 WI-31, Racine, WI 53405, or Camp Anokijig, W5639 Anokijig Ln, Plymouth, WI 53073.
