Lawrence Beales - Class Of 1939

Lawrence F. Beales, 89, of Kenosha, passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at St. Joseph Home for the Aged.

Born in Kenosha on December 10, 1920, he was the son of the late Arthur V. and Amanda M. (Kreofsky) Beales.  He attended Frank Elementary, McKinley Jr. High and graduated from Kenosha High School Class of 1939.  After serving in the military, he completed his education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he received a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering.

On March 2, 1942, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, during World War II, first as an enlisted man in the Air Force and then as a commissioned Officer in the Army Corps of Engineers.  He served two years in China, Burma and India Theaters until his honorable discharge on January 25, 1946.

On November 29, 1945, he married Jean M. Scholey at St. Thomas Aquinas Rectory. 
From 1948 until 1959, for 12 years, he was employed by Snap-On Tools. He then worked at Eaton Dynamatic Corp for 25 years, retiring in 1984.

Lawrence was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church, The Wisconsin Professional Engineers, Senior Action Council and was a life member of the V.F.W. Junker Ball Post #1865.

Surviving are his wife, Jean of Kenosha; three sons, Robert (Sharon) Beales of Ojibwa, WI, John (Karen) Beales of Plymouth, WI, and Thomas (Debra) Beales of Pleasant Prairie; a daughter, Laurie (Dr. Michael) Walsh of Racine, WI; a daughter-in-law, Debra  of Trevor, WI; fourteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Michael; two brothers, Bert and Floyd Beales; and two sisters Grace L. Lutz and Jeanette Beales.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 27, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church from 9:00AM until the time of the Mass at 11:00AM.  Entombment, with military honors, will follow at All Saints Mausoleum.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Joseph’s Home for the Aged or Hospice Alliance would be appreciated by the family.
