Margaret Clausen (Gaffney) - Class Of 1938

Margaret K. Gaffney, 96, died Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at her daughter's home in Kenosha.

Margaret was born in Kenosha on June 29, 1920, to Emil and Katie (Nielsen) Clausen.  She was educated in the schools of Kenosha and attended Miami University of Ohio where she studied art.  She also attended and graduated from the College of Commerce in Kenosha.  On Valentine's Day in 1941, she was united in marriage with J. Thomas Gaffney in Champaign, Illinois.

Margaret was a wonderful homemaker who made her beloved family the center of her life.  She was a kind and devout woman who was a long time member of St. James Catholic Church and at St. Marks' Catholic Church in the past.  She was devoted to her family and to her church.

Surviving Margaret are her sons Michael (Marcia) Gaffney of Peoria, IL, and Thomas (Linda) Gaffney of Green Bay and her daughters Patricia (Roger) Yule and Kathleen (Terry) Nighbert, both of Kenosha.  In addition, she is survived by her beloved 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband in 1993; her parents; her brother, Raymond Clausen; her sister, Ruth Winges; and a sister, Katherine, in infancy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, July 19, at 11:00AM at St. James the Apostle Catholic Church in Kenosha (5804 Sheridan Road).  Visitation with the family will be at the Woman’s Club of Kenosha from 9:30AM until 10:30AM (6028 8th Avenue, across from Library Park).  Burial will follow at St. James Catholic Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to either Aurora at Home Hospice (103 N. Dodge Street, Burlington, WI 53105) or St. James the Apostle Catholic Church would be appreciated.
